Emily M. Smith

Emily Michelle Smith. While I may have the must unoriginal name in the world, I can guarantee that I am genuinely unique, creative and ispired. I created this website to showcase my research and writing abilities while also engaging in SEO and marketing tactics to drive traffic to my site and increase my brand awareness. I care about social awareness and informing the public about current events.

I am a rising senior at the University of Illinois and during the next few semesters I will be looking for full time employment.

 

Throughout my undergraduate career I have honed in on my analytical abilities by constantly researching contemporary topics such as climate change, human rights violations, global health, global governance and even the market trends for advertising during times of crisis. 

​

Apart from my academic works, I have crafted marketing abilities outside of the classroom by achieving multiple certificates in Google AdWords and Search Engine Optimization training. I have this personal blog site, but in 2015 I also created a website for the Peoria Area World Affairs Council as their marketing intern. I sought out this position and this lengthy task because 1. PAWAC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that does not have the funds to hire a website designer and creator 2. The people involved in the organization truly care about global conflict and I have a direct interest in conflict and resolution myself, so I want to help those with my same passion 3. I was the youngest committee member, surrounded by 40+ year olds, so I knew I was the only one with the skill set to accomplish the task. The website can be found here.

This is a new project for me and I'm having a great time creating my own space and learning how to manage a website and truly upgrade my own web designer skills. More blog posts, photos and academic works will be uploaded soon throughout the 2016-2017 academic year!
